Maple sugar season has arrived and many families may want to learn more about it and why the industry is so important to New Brunswick.
The province is one of the world’s top maple syrup producers with many sugar camps open to visitors.
The City of Moncton has expanded the tour at its sugar camp in Turtle Creek.
Spokesperson Heather Fraser says the tour now covers more than just “Pails to Pipelines”.
“We’ve added nutritional benefits, the science behind maple. Of course, you test everything from the sap out of the tree right through to the warm syrup off the evaporator.”
Fraser adds maple sugar is pure and the best sugar for you unlike white or brown sugar which are processed.
The Moncton Maple Sugar Camp will be open daily starting Saturday from 11am until 4pm with tours available on the weekend.
