Some areas of northern New Brunswick have more than 100 centimetres of snow on the ground which could increase the potential for flooding in the province this spring.
The Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says several factors must be in place for an active season.
When you include milder spring temperatures and moisture-laden storm systems which often affect the region, Carter says significant flooding becomes a real possibility.
New Brunswick experienced historic flooding last spring especially along the St. John River.
But could this year be a repeat of 2018?
Carter says we’ll have to keep a close eye on rivers and streams as temperatures eventually warm up and the snow begins to melt later this month.
