The Drive In and KOA campground in Sussex are going through some changes.
As of February 1st, they are now under new ownership.
Don Monahan has been a seasonal camper there for the past four years, and after watching the traffic coming in and out of the campground, he decided it would be a good investment, “I started with a pop up trailer around 20 years ago, and then moved to a hybrid and then a 30 foot travel trailer.”
He says for this summer, it will be pretty much status quo, “Getting control of the operations and understanding the processes and putting new protocols in place, with the movie component going up as well, with new releases. In 2020, we’ll look at adding more lots.”
Don purchased the campground with his business partner Tina Monahan and he says it is a unique experience for both of them.
They plan to stay with the KOA franchise, “It’s a great mechanism for increasing visibility. We are the only one in New Brunswick, so there’s a lot of traffic that comes in from the United States and other provinces.”
They have a few openings for employment this summer, and they plan to start interviews next month.
