Snow is expected to wreak havoc on the region today.
We are under a winter storm warning.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Jean-Marc Couturier says we could receive up to 40 centimetres of snow, “The snow will intensify throughout the morning, with good accumulation rates continuing right through the afternoon.
Winds will increase to around 60 kilometres an hour, which will cause blowing snow, “That will definitely cause some blowing snow, reducing visibility. Looking at a pretty tricky afternoon in terms of visibilities,” Couturier says.
There will be a lot of snow to clean to clear, by the time is all wraps up, “During suppertime, the precipitation will begin to taper off. It looks like definitely by early evening, we would have the back edge of precipitation out of our way and then the snow clearing and recovery can go on through the evening hours.”
Students in Anglophone East and Francophone south are on March break, so it’s not a snow day for them. The Moncton campus of U de M, Mount Allison University, NBCC Moncton, CCNB Dieppe and the UNB Moncton Faculty of nursing is closed today.
Many flights in and out of the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport have already cancelled for today..
