Construction of the new Moncton North YMCA community centre hasn’t even started yet but an expansion down the road is already being discussed.
YMCA spokesperson Dave Theriault says it’s important to build the facility in a way which will ensure future growth.
“If there is any partnering organization out there who is ready, willing and able to have those discussions, we can do it – relatively speaking – a little easier,” he says.
The Moncton public library board has already expressed an interest in having a satellite location in the north end.
When it opens later next year, the centre will have a gym, wellness centre, walking track, multi-purpose rooms along with an indoor splash pad and play area.
Ground is expected to be broken on the $15-million dollar facility this spring on a soon-to-be extended section of Twin Oaks Drive.
