New Brunswickers are being asked for their thoughts, as the provincial government prepares its next budget.
Finance Minister Ernie Steeves will go live on Facebook this afternoon, as a part of the pre-budget consultation.
He will be looking for positive suggestions on what should be included, “Most people are going to be talking about the services they are getting for their taxes. We’re hoping for suggestions on things we can try. What we should be doing, and where they think the services should be improved. Have we completed what we started, and are there areas of business that the government shouldn’t be in? Is there technology out there that you know of that could affect government in a positive way?”
A budget survey that was posted online last month, has already received around 1200 responses.
Steeves says they will be taking all of the suggestions and considering each one, “One by one, we’ll be looking at what we can do, and what we can’t do. Is this a common theme that people are looking for that they think savings can be made in? We’ll take the suggestions and use them towards the March 19th budget.”
Today’s pre-budget consultation gets underway at 2pm today, on the Government of New Brunswick Facebook page.
