A sad day in the Richibucto area after a major fire destroyed a large employer.
Fire officials say the blaze began around 1 o’clock Thursday morning at the Cape Bald Packers and Downeast lobster processing plant in Bedec.
No one was injured.
About 100 employees worked at the facility.
Many area residents expressed shock and sadness on social media today.
Cape Bald Packers and Downeast took over the plant in 2014 and the company also has two other facilities in Cap-Pele.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
