A New Brunswick and Nova Scotia man are going to be paying off hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for transporting contraband tobacco products.
59-year old Camille Rossignol of Grand Falls was found to have 100,562 unstamped cigarettes after officers with a warrant searched his property – a 2002 Chevrolet Venture van was also seized as offence – related property.
He’s facing fines of $132, 317.
52-year old John David Dukeshire from Nova Scotia was fined $292, 862 for 226,381 illegal cigarettes were found in a pickup truck.
Combined, the provincial tax revenue of the seized cigarettes is just shy of $84,000.
