The Moncton Wildcats will hit the ice at the Avenir Centre tomorrow night with a new Head Coach behind the bench.
John Torchetti is a familiar face. He spent one season with the team from 2006 to 2007 leading them to a fourth place finish overall in the QJMHL.
He has spent the last 12 seasons with the NHL, most recently as the assistant coach of the Detroit Red Wings.
“I’m older now and I’ve got a little more experience. I just think it is a great time. There are several opportunities to go back and be an American League guy, or NHL jobs are going to be coming up, but I just want this one,” Torchetti says.

Torchetti says he is ready to build a winning team at this level, “I love to teach, that’s what I can’t wait it get back to, but I want them to be comfortable. I want them to play hard, that’s what I want.”
He takes over for Darren Rumble who was released from the team last week.
“We want to be a hard working team, but I mean we are going to be skilled and score goals and try to win. We are always going to try to win, that’s what he wants us to do,” Torchetti says.
He will also take over the role as the Director of Hockey Operations.
