New Brunswick saw a significant decline in unintentional water-related deaths in 2018 according to figures compiled by the Canadian Red Cross.
The province had 4 such deaths and the five-year average is 9.
The deaths included a man from Maine whose kayak overturned in the Bay of Fundy, another man whose canoe flipped near Musquash and a father and daughter whose raft overturned in rapids on the Miramichi River.
Across Atlantic Canada in 2018, there were 39 unintentional water-related deaths which is consistent compared to recent years.
