Looks like we’re going to ring in the New Year with snow.
We have another special weather statement in effect for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Spencer Clements says this system will come with a mix of snow and rain, “It is possible that areas in Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick could see a snowfall warning. Right now we are expecting 10 to 15 centimetres between the overnight hours around 3am and up to the afternoon on Tuesday when we expect a change to rain.”
Other parts of the province including Fredericton and Southern York County as well as all regions north of there are under a snowfall warning, “”They’re expecting snow beginning sometime this evening or overnight and lasting until the evening hours on Tuesday, with up to 25 centimetres of snow expected,” Clements says.
Clements says we could see more messy conditions, with ice forming on roads as the temperatures climb and dip, “There’s not a lot of wind with this system as it snows, so we’re not expecting a lot of blowing snow.”
