Moncton-based Organigram is a major supplier of cannabis for nine provinces including New Brunswick.
The company’s chief commercial officer says it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the initial supply didn’t meet the incredible demand for cannabis.
Ray Gracewood says inventory shortages have been happening across Canada since legalization in mid-October.
“Our fill-rates across the country and specifically to New Brunswick have been much better than average. I think unfortunately there’s a lot of producers that haven’t been been able to meet those expectations,” he says.
Gracewood adds Organigram is trying to keep up with demand.
He notes this is the first Christmas season for recreational cannabis and that could pose more challenges.
