Late next month, Ambulance New Brunswick will start sending out rapid response units in five different areas.
They will be in Minto/Chipman, Blackville, the Acadian Peninsula, Grand Bay-Westfield and Saint-Quentin/Kedgwick.
It’s part of a two-year pilot project first announced in June.

ANB vice-president Matthew Crossman says in certain locations they get an initial call for a patient, quickly followed by a second call and in some of the harder to reach areas having another vehicle there means they can responder faster.
“It doesn’t happen a lot but, when it does happen the next ambulance may be coming from another community so this gives us that added coverage and backup,” Crossman says.
Rapid Response Units do not transport patients so they remain in the communities they serve.
They will operate in each area for 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
