The Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport currently doesn’t have a direct flight to the U.S., Newfoundland or Europe.
But CEO Bernard LeBlanc says the airport is always seeking new airline partners and new routes.
WestJet is launching a new discount airline called Swoop which is expected to begin flying in June.
LeBlanc says discussions have been ongoing with the airline to add Moncton to its list of destinations.
Right now, Halifax is the only stop in Atlantic Canada for Swoop.
LeBlanc adds the recent acquisition of the Moncton Flight College by the Exchange Income Corporation also presents new opportunities for additional routes and flights.
The company owns PAL Aerospace which is based in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
