The Gallant government has received the report into the response to the devastating ice storm in January, and the Conservation Council of New Brunswick says the 51 recommendations are a warning for everyone.
Executive-Director Lois Corbett says the report author Judy Wagner, Clerk of the Executive Council hit the nail on the head. The report includes 51 recommendations and Corbett says it is a real eye opener for many groups.
Corbett is highly critical of NB Power saying the utility needs to use more renewable sources of energy rather than relying on a system of wires designed by Benjamin Franklin. She says all of us need to face reality here.
She warns people also need to realize these major weather events will become more and more frequent due to climate change.
