Six new recruits have joined the Moncton Fire Department.
The new members of the team are currently undergoing a thorough seven week training program with the Moncton Fire Department.
Deputy Fire Chief Don McCabe says McCabe says on top of classroom training, they also get some hands on work as well. The recruits are brought in after a fire, like the one on Mountain Road yesterday, and they help with the overhaul, which happens after a fire is out. He says it gives them an opportunity to work with the team.
Prior to being chosen as the lucky candidates hired by the City of Moncton, these recruits had to go through a lengthy 5 month process that included screening, physical fitness and practicality test, written exam and then finally a interview.
