Despite NB Decline, Small Population Growth In Fundy Royal

Fundy Royal is a mostly rural federal riding in Southern New Brunswick which actually had an almost one percent growth in population according to the latest census despite a province-wide decline.

Fundy Royal MP Alaina Lockhart says the riding has 12 municipalities and some have been seeing strong growth including Riverview and Quispamsis.

"It was wonderful news for me to see that Fundy Royal is growing.  It really has a lot to do with strengthening of these communities and how hard they work to make sure their communities are involved and they have a good quality of life," she notes.

Immigration will continue to be more important to grow the riding's population according to Lockhart who introduced a private member's bill in Parliament last year in hopes of retaining more newcomers.

She believes many communities in the province have been doing a great job at welcoming newcomers.
