The federal government is offering funding to eligible employers who plan to hire students under the 2017 Canada Summer Jobs program.
Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe M-P Ginette Petitpas-Taylor says Ottawa will provide funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with up to 50 employees.
Petitpas-Taylor says the idea is to create job opportunities for young people between the ages of 15 and 30 who will be returning to school in the following academic year.
Employers can make applications through Service Canada and the deadline is January 20th.
Funding could be approved in time for employers to hire students by April.
