There will be an emergency debate in the House of Commons tonight on the temporary travel ban implemented by means of an executive order by President Donald Trump.
The NDP is proposing the cap on refugees admitted to Canada be lifted.
The Canadian Ambassador to Washington, David MacNaughton says Canada is not seen as being a problem by the Trump Administration and 90 per cent of the discussions thus far have been positive but concedes the trade dispute over softwood lumber will not be easy to resolve.
He adds many members of the new American administration have never worked in government and seem frustrated at not being able to get things done. MacNaughton says the new American administration is more interested in outcomes rather than process but some of its ideas are not practical and won't work.
