Moncton would likely be a very different community today without the contributions of Reuben Cohen according to Mayor George LeBlanc.
Cohen, a well-known Moncton lawyer and philanthropist has died at age 93.
LeBlanc describes Cohen as a true gentleman, “sometimes we don’t see enough of that anymore.”
For his longtime support of the arts and education, he was named to the Order of Canada in 1979, and given the Order of New Brunswick in 2010.
LeBlanc says Cohen was especially touched when he received the Order of Moncton in 2011.
Cohen was heavily involved in community fundraising campaigns including the YMCA of Greater Moncton and the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
