Many tourism operators in New Brunswick have enjoyed one of the best summer seasons ever according to figures unveiled by the province.
Double digit growth in visitors was recorded at such attractions as the New Brunswick Aquarium and Hopewell Rocks.
Tourism Industry Association President/CEO Ron Drisdelle believes several factors led to a stellar year which is on top of a great year in 2016.
“Gas prices, the Canada 150 campaign and all of the promotion around that, and all of Destination Canada’s efforts to market Canada abroad,” he notes.
One of the few bleak spots in tourism this year was at Parlee Beach where visitor numbers dropped by a staggering 26 percent.
No swimming signs were posted on numerous days due to poor water quality issues.
