Sussex RCMP is warning drivers to keep their full attention on the road.

This caution comes as police are increasing their efforts to curb distracted driving.

Sergeant Jim MacPherson says people are continuing to use their phones while driving, despite a possible fine of $172.50 and the loss of three demerit points.

He adds taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds greatly increases your chances of being involved in a serious crash that can end someone's life.

Last year, 645 people were ticketed for distracted driving in RCMP jurisdictions across New Brunswick.
