The City of Moncton is rolling out a new emergency alert system which is designed to be an effective communication tool between the city and its residents.
Moncton Fire Chief Eric Arsenault says the “Sentinel” system will advise residents by phone, text, e-mail or fax of a critical situation.
Arsenault says residents will know the information is credible since it is coming the city’s emergency measures team.
He adds the city had been working on this system for awhile but wanted to roll it as soon as possible following the tragic shooting deaths of three RCMP officers in June.
It takes only a few minutes to sign up, head to the City of Moncton’s webpage, http://www.moncton.ca/page4.aspx
