Moncton firefighters were called to barn fire in the 300 block of Ammon Road early yesterday afternoon.
Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says by the time they arrived, fire had fully engulfed the barn which was filled with hay and dry lumber.
Gaudet says a family cat was killed in the fire.
Fortuntately, horses that would normally be housed in the barn, were out in the field when the fire began.
An investigation is underway but the fire is not considered suspicious.
