Another North Atlantic Right Whale has been found dead - this time off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.
A necropsy is being performed on the mammal while other necropsy results from whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence should be known by next month.
Meanwhile, federal fisheries and oceans minister Dominic LeBlanc says a report is expected soon from Transport Canada amid the suspension of whale rescue operations.
"I've asked Transport Canada to ensure that they offer every possible recommendation as to how we could successfully and safely resume rescue operations," he says.
Earlier this summer, fisherman and whale rescuer Joe Howlett was killed while trying to disentangle a whale in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and rescue operations were suspended shortly afterward.
