Acadian Peninsula Hit With Severe Thunderstorms

Thousands of residents were left in the dark in the Acadian Peninsula this morning, after severe thunderstorms hit the region last night.

There are numerous reports on social media with photos of electrical poles down with power lines across roads.

A video shows pieces of a roof in Caraquet being blown off, piece by piece in strong winds.

The Shippagan Bridge has been closed until further notice.

Many of the residents of the Acadian Peninsula are still recovering from another major weather event.  In January, an ice storm caused massive widespread damage, knocking out power for up to 12 days for some.
