The Greater Moncton Football Association has an opportunity for girls between the ages of 14 and 17 to learn the game, and play against teams from other cities.
President Joel Irvine says if you’re a parent and your child has expressed an interest in tackle football, you’re encouraged to let them try it out, “Our coaches are all Safe Contact certified. The training is there to help your daughter to learn. Obviously, we assess the talent level of the girls in the beginning and we work with them based on what their skill set is.”
Irvine says Moncton used to have a team, but they have struggled to get enough girls over the last couple of years, “But this year we are pushing it forward. It is a great opportunity for the girls to play tackle football, and play against teams in Saint John and Fredericton. They’ll also get the chance to meet new friends, socialize and be a part of something that is very unique.”
