We’ve already had a taste of winter in New Brunswick but many drivers still haven’t made the switch to winter tires.
According to a survey commissioned by the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada, just over half of all drivers across the country install winter tires every season.
Spokesperson Carolyn Gord says using anything else on your vehicle is a compromise.
She says, “Winter tires really do outperform all-season tires because they are made from softer rubber compounds and are able to grip the road better at temperatures 7 degrees celsius or below.”
The survey showed about 73 percent of Atlantic Canadians install winter tires which is the highest rate in the country outside Quebec where winter tires have been mandatory for all drivers since 2008.
