An investigation is underway after fire extensively damaged a bungalow at 153 Cassidy Street just off Mountain Road.
Moncton Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says neighbours had called in reports after fire had blown out the windows shortly before 5:30 last night.
“When firefighters arrived, they were challenged with a good working fire on two levels of the house – the basement and the first floor,” he says.
Bruens adds the fire was so intense, the siding of a neighbour’s home was also damaged.
No one was hurt.
The Red Cross has arranged for temporary lodging for the homeowner and his 19-year-old son who were living in the basement.
A man with two young children who were renting the main level of the house are staying with relatives for now.
