Exporting Electricity Seen As Boosting Government Coffers

Premier Brian Gallant is described as being favourable to the idea of building a second reactor at Point Lepreau. Whether this is a serious idea or not remains to be seen.

The province does want to get into the business of exporting electricity. Energy Minister Rick Doucet believes the potential is there to generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the provincial government.

According to Doucet, the northeastern states with 50 million people are hungry for any energy New Brunswick could export.
