A Picadilly, N.B. woman who turned to Kijiji after losing her ring at the movie theatre in Saint John is feeling relieved and thankful after getting a phone call from a woman in the city who says that she found it.
The ring is much more than just an object to 31-year-old Carrie Coombs, who says the ring is actually three rings soldered together: her engagement and wedding rings, along with a ring with blue sapphire stone made for her son who was stillborn in 2006.
"We had this ring made and we had his birthstone put in it, and his name was engraved," Coombs tells us. "It was weird, I felt like I had lost him all over again because I don't have a lot to remember him by."
On Sunday evening, she went out to the movies with some friends, and says she took her ring off and put it on the counter to wash her hands.
"When I realized halfway through the movie I went rushing out and searched through my purse and searched through the bathroom searched through everywhere," says Coombs.
The next day she turned to Kijiji and posted an ad asking for help finding her ring. As of Wednesday, the post has more than 10,000 views and the Kijiji post went up on our Country94 Facebook page where it was shared more than 300 times.
"I was completely shocked that my story was spreading like wildfire, I couldn't believe it," says Coombs. "I knew if there was any chance of getting it back that that was going to help."
Coombs is heading into Saint John tonight to pick up her ring.
"I want to say that the power of media can be used as a wonderful tool that has allowed me to be reunited with my very precious ring," she says. "And I'm just so thankful for that."
