The New Brunswick Adoption Foundation wants families who adopt or waiting to adopt to know they are not alone. That’s why the support network for adoptive families is being expanded across the province.
Executive Director Suzanne Kingston calls it a real success story. She says a survey of post adoptive parents has revealed more than 90 per cent of them say they felt more confident and competent because of the support they received and 96 per cent of those families waiting to adopt say they felt more prepared for the adoption.
Kingston says it’s not uncommon for children and adolescents to have attachment issues after having lived in a number of different homes and dealing with that can be challenging. She also tells us there has been more interest in adopting older children.
