It’s school supply shopping season, but for many that means a lot of headaches.
The Anglophone East School District has come up with a plan this year, that will make shopping easier for parents.
Senior Education Officer Diane Gillis says they are using generic lists for all of the schools, based on the different grades, “We have a list for Kindergarten, grades 1 and 2, grades 3 to 5, that applies for English and Immersion, and for grades 6 to 8.”
Gillis says this also makes it more convenient if your child has to transfer schools, “We wanted to make it simple, if your child starts school at a certain school and you have to move throughout the year, you can just take your supplies with you.”
Gillis says the younger grades will often receive a note, asking parents to send money to school, and the teachers purchase the supplies instead of the parents.
She also says for parents who are buying supplies, they should be able to get the basics for around $30.
