Environment Canada has ended its rainfall warning for our region…….
But there are some parts of the province that are dealing with the damage that has been left behind….
As of 2am, the Metro Moncton region had received almost 91 millimetres of rain
Other areas were hit much harder, Saint John received over 111 millimetres, Fredericton almost 137 millimetres, and Bouctouche with over 144 millimetres of rain.
The causeway circle was closed for most of the night, due to flooding. It reopened at around 5am this morning. A caller to our newsroom says there is still a lot of water on the roads there though.
There are thousands of power outages across the province. NB Power crews are working on the issues. The majority in the Fredericton area.
According to the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization,
Numerous roads have been washed out in the Saint John and Fredericton region.
Regional Emergency Operations Centre has been Activated in Oromocto
There are a number of roads and highways closed in the Fredericton area because they are impassable.
There have been reports of basement flooding in Sussex.
A Road Washout on Riverview Dr. in Apohaqui, the bridge has possibly been compromised in Bellisle Creek, and a large sinkhole opened and swallowed a car on Highway 850 near Springfield. Luckily no one was hurt.
