A security company is currently keeping an eye on the Peter McKee Community Food Centre following a recent break-in.
Operations manager Ben MacMichael says the cost of making the building more secure could be as high as $20,000.
“We are changing our doors… putting in steel and metal doors. We are looking at our alarm system, surveillance… and stuff like that,” he says.
MacMichael says the cost will be a financial burden since the building is not yet paid for and the number one priority is always food.
Unfortunately he adds it will take away from what the centre does for families.
The food centre was damaged and several laptop computers were stolen during the break-in last weekend.
