Travellers Often Overlook Travel Insurance

'Tis the season for winter travel especially for anyone who wants to escape the cold and head to a warmer, sunnier climate.

But one thing that many of us forget about before we take off is travel insurance.

Lauren Reimer with Expedia.ca says make sure you purchase travel insurance and have it handy in case you need it.

"If something happens to you or your kids, this is the first number you're going to want to refer to.  So this is always something I pack in my wallet and I make sure I locate it before I leave," she notes.

NB EMO Urges Everyone To Be "72-Hours Ready"

Let's face it... most of us are likely not prepared if an emergency happens in our community and help doesn't arrive for days.

The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) is reminding us to be "72-hours ready" to ensure you have everything you need until help arrives.

EMO says there are three important components.

Number one is to know the risks involved depending on the type of emergency whether it be a power failure, natural disaster or other event.

Number two is making a plan for the entire family so everyone knows what to do.

A man from South Carolina is determined to ensure actress Betty White makes it to 2017.

White will turn 95 in January, and with the number of celebrities who have passed in 2016.     Demetrios Hrysikos decided to do something to make sure White's name wasn't added to the list.

He launched a Go Fund Me page with the initial goal of $2,000, and stated, "If she is okay with it, I will fly to wherever Betty White is, and keep her safe until January 1st of 2017."

If you struggle to maintain New Year's resolutions, you're not alone.

Psychologist Dr. Michael Vallis says that's because most people are going about it the wrong way.

Vallis says the reasons why people choose a certain goal is setting them up for failure.

"They primary driver to a New Year's resolution is someone feel bad about something. The motivation is get out of a bad situation and into a good one. We call that 'escape behavior."

Poll Shows Canadians Want Prime Minister Trudeau To Stand Up To Donald Trump

A poll released by Nanos Research has found three in four Canadians agree or somewhat agree that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should stand up to the incoming U.S. President Donald Trump as the champion of progressive values even if it strains Canada-US relations.

The same poll reveals 77 per cent of Canadians think Trudeau should invite Trump to first visit Canada while16 per cent are opposed.

Poll Reveals We're Not Doing Enough To Control Our Spending

A CIBC poll has discovered nearly half of us aren’t doing enough to achieve our financial priorities.

The polling found repaying debt was the top financial priority with the biggest concerns being credit cards and lines of credit.

Keeping up with bills was the second highest priority followed by growing investments.

48 per cent of respondents said they didn’t plan to cut back their spending on non-essential items.

Snow And Rain Mix Expected In SE NB In Latest Storm

It looks like Southeastern New Brunswick will be spared from some of the nastier conditions expected in today's weather system, but we will still see some snow and some dicey conditions tonight and into tomorrow.

That special weather statement remains in effect for our region, as an intensifying low pressure system approaches the Maritimes.   It will track across Northwest New Brunswick, and alerts across New Brunswick range from winter storm watches, snowfall warnings, wind warning and rainfall warnings as well.
